Are you UNEMPLOYABLE?

If ever you think you are unemployable take yourself off to see ‘The Intern’ starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

This is a movie about a retiree (Robert De Niro) who decided he wanted to get back to work as retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. He becomes a Senior Intern at an online fashion site run by Anne Hathaway

The movie could be a kind reminder to employers who have the thinking, do not employ anyone over 50,60,70.  Robert De Niro shows that he is a worthwhile employee and can offer quite a lot.

Anne Hathaway has a ‘light bulb’ moment and realises Robert De Niro is worth having in her organisation.

Even the younger generation take to him and make him feel part of the team. They go to him for advise, help him understand the IT and look up to him.

So this raises a question with me, why are we not employing the older generation? They have a brain, a heart, knowledge, experience, connections, loyalty, turn up  and my list could go on and on.

Do not write these age groups off, sit back and think about how are you going to feel one day when you are in you 50’s, 60’s , 70’s and still want to work and no one will employ you????????

You may say, “ it’s a movie”, yes you are correct. Is it possible the movie reflects how there could be many people in society who are seeking work and are not given the opportunity because of their age? Don’t turn your back on these age groups, keep an open mind.
